Alpharetta International Academy is proud to be staffed with intern teachers working under the supervision of an American Montessori Society (AMS) trained teacher. Alpharetta
International Academy is Accredited with the Pan American Montessori
Society. The mission of the Pan American Montessori Society is to offer teacher education courses of high quality that provide an in-depth study of the Montessori Concept of Education and the ways in which it can be implemented. The goal of each course is not just to give lessons on the didactic materials, but to provide candidates with an understanding of the secret of childhood, to give them new insights into the nature of child development, and to demonstrate how respect for the childs inner teacher serves as the integrating principle for effective childhood education. |

Curriculum Night Each teacher individually schedules Curriculum Night within the first month of school. We request that both parents attend. This adult-only evening is an opportunity to learn about your child's classroom and hear about some of the exciting things that have been planned for the year. The teacher will take this opportunity to explain the room, the daily routine, as well as procedures regarding reading parents, birthday celebrations and answer any questions you may have. Reading Parent Parents are encouraged to come into their child's classroom to listen to the children read. This is a great way to know the children and to see how the classroom works. Students love to see their parents in the classroom. Coffee and Chat with Dixie Director Dixie Oliver holds informal meetings once a month to discuss Montessori theory and how to incorporate it into your parenting. These morning meetings are an excellent opportunity to ask questions about the classroom as well as discuss challenges in parenting. Parent Education Classes Each fall we host seminars on different areas of the Montessori classroom. These seminars provide an excellent opportunity to gain a better understanding of what your child is learning and why. Gardening Day We schedule periodic gardening days to take care of seasonal planting. Working together, side by side with your child, gives a great sense of responsibility and awareness of the value of his contribution. |
