ALPHARETTA INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY September, 2008 "The essence of independence is to be able to do something for one's self." - Maria Montessori Please accept our apology for the parking lot confusion during the tornado warning Tuesday morning. The early arriving staff, parents and children were already in our evacuation safety zone. The staff was concerned about the adequacy of our protected space with the addition of parents. In actuality, there was room to spare. We are registered with the National Weather Service. Our Weather/Hazard Alert Radio informs us immediately of any dangerous weather conditions. The children have a safe designated evacuation drill, leading them to a safe place. The city approves our evacuation procedures every year. ADULT EDUCATION SEMINARS Every family is required to attend each of the Adult Education Seminars with-in a two-year time period. The dates are listed on the Dates to Remember calendar. These seminars are for your advantage. They enable you to understand the Montessori classroom and how your child will progress throughout the years. PICTURE DAYS Jim Elkins will be here on Wednesday, September 10th and Thursday, September 11th for our school pictures. Uniforms are required these days for all children. We will do our best to arrange for siblings who are in school to be photographed together. FUN EARLY RELEASE DAY ACTIVITES (optional) We observe the Fulton County Early Release Day calendar each year. On these afternoons all students are released at 11:45am. We would like to use these free afternoons as an opportunity to do fun activities with the children. This is a great way to meet other families and allow the children to have fun together. We will notify you with the event details for the month in our Newsletter. These events are optional. They help support our school by donating back a percentage of the proceeds. We would like to invite you to join us this month on September 17th anytime between 12:00pm - 6:00pm at the North Point Chuck E Cheese. The children had such a wonderful time there last year. CHUCK E CHEESE EVENT Please join us after Early Release on Wednesday, September 17th at Chuck E Cheese (North Point) for an afternoon of fun anytime between 12:00 pm - 6:00pm. Chuck E Cheese will donate 15% of all proceeds back to AIA from our school sales, including all food, merchandise, and tokens purchased. They will have a separate cash register for our sales, so please make sure you use it in order for our school to get the credit. Your child will receive a sticker the day of the event that can be traded in for 10 free tokens. 2009 SPRING AUCTION NEWS Do you enjoy party planning?
